Title: | Ubuntu: Security Advisory (USN-315-1) |
Summary: | The remote host is missing an update for the 'libmms, xine-lib' package(s) announced via the USN-315-1 advisory. |
Description: | Summary: The remote host is missing an update for the 'libmms, xine-lib' package(s) announced via the USN-315-1 advisory. Vulnerability Insight: Matthias Hopf discovered several buffer overflows in libmms. By tricking a user into opening a specially crafted remote multimedia stream with an application using libmms, a remote attacker could exploit this to execute arbitrary code with the user's privileges. The Xine library contains an embedded copy of libmms, and thus needs the same security update. Affected Software/OS: 'libmms, xine-lib' package(s) on Ubuntu 5.04, Ubuntu 5.10, Ubuntu 6.06. Solution: Please install the updated package(s). CVSS Score: 5.0 CVSS Vector: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
