Category: | Ubuntu Local Security Checks |
Title: | Ubuntu: Security Advisory (USN-3887-1) |
Summary: | The remote host is missing an update for the 'snapd' package(s) announced via the USN-3887-1 advisory. |
Description: | Summary: The remote host is missing an update for the 'snapd' package(s) announced via the USN-3887-1 advisory. Vulnerability Insight: Chris Moberly discovered that snapd versions 2.28 through 2.37 incorrectly validated and parsed the remote socket address when performing access controls on its UNIX socket. A local attacker could use this to access privileged socket APIs and obtain administrator privileges. On Ubuntu systems with snaps installed, snapd typically will have already automatically refreshed itself to snapd 2.37.1 which is unaffected. Affected Software/OS: 'snapd' package(s) on Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 18.10. Solution: Please install the updated package(s). CVSS Score: 10.0 CVSS Vector: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
