Summary: | The remote host is missing an update for the 'shadow' package(s) announced via the USN-1065-1 advisory. |
Description: | Summary: The remote host is missing an update for the 'shadow' package(s) announced via the USN-1065-1 advisory. Vulnerability Insight: Kees Cook discovered that some shadow utilities did not correctly validate user input. A local attacker could exploit this flaw to inject newlines into the /etc/passwd file. Affected Software/OS: 'shadow' package(s) on Ubuntu 9.10, Ubuntu 10.04, Ubuntu 10.10. Solution: Please install the updated package(s). CVSS Score: 6.4 CVSS Vector: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:P |
