Vulnerability Insight: The flaw exists due to a heap-based buffer over-read error in EbmlElement::FindNextElement of the 'libebml' library as used by VLC Media Player. Vulnerability Impact: Successful exploitation will allow attackers to cause denial of service condition and launch further attacks using specially crafted files. Affected Software/OS: libebml before 1.3.6, as used in the MKV module in VLC Media Player binaries before 3.0.3 on Windows. Solution: Update VLC Media Player to version 3.0.3 or later.
