Description: | Summary: Netscape FastTrack Server is prone to a buffer overflow vulnerability. Vulnerability Insight: The flaw is due to an error in the HTTP Basic Authentication procedure for the servers, which has a buffer overflow condition when a long username or password (over 508 characters) are provided. Vulnerability Impact: Successful exploitation will allow remote attackers to gain root privileges under UNIX and SYSTEM privileges under NT. Affected Software/OS: Netscape FastTrack Server 3.01. Solution: No known solution was made available for at least one year since the disclosure of this vulnerability. Likely none will be provided anymore. General solution options are to upgrade to a newer release, disable respective features, remove the product or replace the product by another one.
