Title: | Ubuntu: Security Advisory (USN-783-1) |
Summary: | The remote host is missing an update for the 'ecryptfs-utils' package(s) announced via the USN-783-1 advisory. |
Description: | Summary: The remote host is missing an update for the 'ecryptfs-utils' package(s) announced via the USN-783-1 advisory. Vulnerability Insight: Chris Jones discovered that the eCryptfs support utilities would report the mount passphrase into installation logs when an eCryptfs home directory was selected during Ubuntu installation. The logs are only readable by the root user, but this still left the mount passphrase unencrypted on disk, potentially leading to a loss of privacy. Affected Software/OS: 'ecryptfs-utils' package(s) on Ubuntu 9.04. Solution: Please install the updated package(s). CVSS Score: 1.9 CVSS Vector: AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
