Vulnerability Insight: Due to the improper handling of batch files in child_process.spawn / child_process.spawnSync, a malicious command line argument can inject arbitrary commands and achieve code execution even if the shell option is not enabled. Affected Software/OS: Node.js versions prior to 18.20.2, starting from 19.x and prior to 20.12.2 and 21.x prior to 21.7.3. Vendor note: It's important to note that End-of-Life versions are always affected when a security release occurs. Solution: Update to version 18.20.2, 20.12.2, 21.7.3 or later.
