Title: | Mageia: Security Advisory (MGASA-2017-0340) |
Summary: | The remote host is missing an update for the '389-ds-base' package(s) announced via the MGASA-2017-0340 advisory. |
Description: | Summary: The remote host is missing an update for the '389-ds-base' package(s) announced via the MGASA-2017-0340 advisory. Vulnerability Insight: The directory server password lockout policy prevents binds from operating once a threshold of failed passwords has been met. During this lockout, if you bind with a successful password, a different error code is returned. This means that an attacker has no ratelimit or penalty during an account lock, and can continue to attempt passwords via bruteforce, using the change in return code to ascertain a successful password auth (CVE-2017-7551). Affected Software/OS: '389-ds-base' package(s) on Mageia 5, Mageia 6. Solution: Please install the updated package(s). CVSS Score: 5.0 CVSS Vector: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
