Title: | Conectiva Security Advisory CLA-2002:475 |
Summary: | NOSUMMARY |
Description: | Description: The remote host is missing updates announced in advisory CLA-2002:475. sudo[1] is an utility designed to be used by administrators who wish to delegate administrative privileges to regular users for very specific commands, and without giving away the root password. Global InterSec published[3] an advisory about a memory heap corruption vulnerability[2] in sudo. This vulnerability could possibly be used by local attackers to obtain root privileges. Sudo allows users to specify the password prompt they receive. This prompt can contain macros (such as %h) that will be expanded by sudo. Sudo can be tricked into allocating the wrong ammount of memory for this prompt. Solution: The apt tool can be used to perform RPM package upgrades by running 'apt-get update' followed by 'apt-get upgrade' http://www.courtesan.com/pipermail/sudo-announce/2002-April/000020.html http://www.securityspace.com/smysecure/catid.html?in=CLA-2002:475 http://distro.conectiva.com.br/atualizacoes/index.php?id=a&anuncio=002002 Risk factor : High |
