Title: | Slackware: Security Advisory (SSA:2023-046-02) |
Summary: | The remote host is missing an update for the 'git' package(s) announced via the SSA:2023-046-02 advisory. |
Description: | Summary: The remote host is missing an update for the 'git' package(s) announced via the SSA:2023-046-02 advisory. Vulnerability Insight: New git packages are available for Slackware 14.0, 14.1, 14.2, 15.0, and -current to fix security issues. Here are the details from the Slackware 15.0 ChangeLog: +--------------------------+ patches/packages/git-2.35.7-i586-1_slack15.0.txz: Upgraded. This update fixes security issues: Using a specially-crafted repository, Git can be tricked into using its local clone optimization even when using a non-local transport. Though Git will abort local clones whose source $GIT_DIR/objects directory contains symbolic links (c.f., CVE-2022-39253), the objects directory itself may still be a symbolic link. These two may be combined to include arbitrary files based on known paths on the victim's filesystem within the malicious repository's working copy, allowing for data exfiltration in a similar manner as CVE-2022-39253. By feeding a crafted input to 'git apply', a path outside the working tree can be overwritten as the user who is running 'git apply'. For more information, see: [links moved to references] (* Security fix *) +--------------------------+ Affected Software/OS: 'git' package(s) on Slackware 14.0, Slackware 14.1, Slackware 14.2, Slackware 15.0, Slackware current. Solution: Please install the updated package(s). CVSS Score: 7.8 CVSS Vector: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:C/A:N |
