Description: | Summary: Oracle VirtualBox is prone to a privilege escalation vulnerability. Vulnerability Insight: The flaw exists in the Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM) network adapter in Network Address Translation (NAT) mode called the E1000. Vulnerability Impact: Successful exploitation will allow an attacker with root/administrator privileges in a guest to escape to a host ring3. Then the attacker can use existing techniques to escalate privileges to ring 0 via /dev/vboxdrv Affected Software/OS: Oracle VirtualBox versions 5.2.20 and before on Windows. Solution: No known solution was made available for at least one year since the disclosure of this vulnerability. Likely none will be provided anymore. General solution options are to upgrade to a newer release, disable respective features, remove the product or replace the product by another one.
