ID de Prueba: | 1.3.6.1.4.1.25623.1.0.51568 |
Categoría: | Conectiva Local Security Checks |
Título: | Conectiva Security Advisory CLA-2001:404 |
Resumen: | NOSUMMARY |
Descripción: | Description: The remote host is missing updates announced in advisory CLA-2001:404. xinetd is an alternative to the inetd superserver. zen-parse reported on Bugtraq a remote buffer overflow vulnerability in xinetd that could be used by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the server with root privileges. Another vulnerability that has been corrected with this release is the umask setting, which previous versions were configuring to zero. With the umask set to zero, applications started by xinetd could inadvertently create world writable files if they did not check this setting before. The xinetd package is not used by default in Conectiva Linux 6.0, therefore only users who explicitly changed the configuration of their services in order to use xinetd will be vulnerable. Solution: The apt tool can be used to perform RPM package upgrades by running 'apt-get update' followed by 'apt-get upgrade' http://www.securityspace.com/smysecure/catid.html?in=CLA-2001:404 http://distro.conectiva.com.br/atualizacoes/index.php?id=a&anuncio=000404 Risk factor : High |
