The vulnerability exists because
sys.path restrictions specified in a python38._pth file are ignored,
allowing code to be loaded from arbitrary locations.
Successful exploitation would allow an attacker
to execute arbitrary code on the target machine.
Python through version 3.8.4.
Update to version 3.8.5 or later.
